MK-50 Training Torpedo

The Mark 50 torpedo is one of three major torpedo designs in the U.S. Navy's inventory. It is an advanced lightweight torpedo for use against the faster, deeper diving, and more sophisticated submarines.

Initially developed under the guidance of Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, the Mark 50 Training Torpedo recovery system has been in service for over 10 years. ILC provided the design and fabricated over 250 Kevlar floats in production. Honeywell/Rocket Research/ILC Team

  • Inflation Pressure 25 psi, Proof Pressure 30 psi, Vol 6 cu ft
  • 5 yr/10 Inflation Cycles Specification Exceeded by >100%
  • Compatible With Solid Propellant Exhaust and Seawater
  • Operates at 28 Psi and 20F to 470F

ILC continues to support the Navy with modifications to accommodate new mission requirements for fleet exercise vehicles and to further extend the life of these rugged floats.
