| ILC has been investigating ballute designs utilizing new high strength fabrics for significant gains in packing efficiencies and in performance capabilities. Other innovations for fast ram air ballute deployment include use of low cost, off-the-shelf auto airbag gas generators. In comparison to the Mark 82 Bomb, an ILC ballute would reduce the bomb retarder canister length by almost two thirds. |
