Space Deployable Inflatable Antennas
ILC has applied rigidizable inflatables technology to the development of several different types of inflatable antenna structures ranging from synthetic aperture radar antennas, to highly accurate Ka-Band reflectarray antennas. Inflatable structures can be applied in various ways to deployable antennas including inflatable rigidizable dish structures, tubular structures that support inflatable reflectors or mesh antennas, or as inflatable structures that house antenna elements and act as structure and antenna together. ILC has developed a number of inflatable antenna structures such as the x-band reflectarray, the 3 meter Ka-band reflectarray, and the rigidizable dish parabolic reflector antenna. ILC has also participated in a number of design studies for advanced large scale applications including the ARISE radiometer program, the large multi-band inflatable antenna, and large a large SAR antenna program.
