Several commercial organic and inorganic anti-microbial treatments have been studied by ILC and some have transitioned from research into application. These coatings prevent harmful microbial growth to control odor and enhance crew health. Specialty silver coatings have now been qualified in space suit glove comfort liners and are under investigation for use in liquid cooling garments and suit liners.
