We have developed methods for active structural health monitoring of textile and membrane based structures. By incorporating conductive elements into structures we have created ways to identify damage locations using “break-point” sensing. This technique has been demonstrated in military equipment (sensate Liner, airships, shelters), and well as space suits and habitats. Wired and wireless solutions have been evaluated, as well as display and control systems.
