High‑Containment Solutions for GLP‑1 Solid‑Phase Peptide Synthesis
One of the most widely used methods for building GLP-1 peptide chains is Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS). In this process, amino acids are sequentially added to a growing polymer chain within a reactor, following a precisely controlled order and dosage. The complexity of SPPS requires reliable, high-containment solutions that ensure both process integrity and operator safety.
ILC Dover’s DoverPac product family is purpose-built to support solids handling in SPPS environments, delivering the performance, containment, and flexibility required for modern peptide manufacturing.
Designed for Efficient and Scalable Amino Acid Charging
- The DoverPac family of products are easily adapted in expanding operations and for outsourcing to CMO’s. The installation costs for DoverPac technology is a fraction of competing technology like stainless steel IBC and continue to deliver a lower OpEx requirement by eliminated cleaning requirements saving energy, floor space, and valuable production time.
High Containment at the Point of Transfer
- DoverPac system provide high-containment connections to reactor nozzles, including 8” and 12” configurations, supporting a “contain at the source” Contamination Control Strategy (CCS). This minimizes the risk of exposure, cross-contamination, and product loss.
- For SPPS applications, DoverPac containers are engineered to directly connect to reactor nozzles using tri-clamp connections across sizes from 4” to 8”. These fully closed connections ensure that no external contamination can enter the process.
Flexible Solutions for Smaller Batch Sizes
- EZ BioPac and EZ PowderZip systems are commonly used for solids charging in the 10-liter to 100-liter range. Their open-top design simplifies filling, while the 3D construction enables near-complete discharge with minimal material hold-up, supporting yield optimization and batch consistency.
Engineered Materials for Demanding SPPS Environments
All ILC Dover flexible containment solutions are manufactured using ArmorFlex® film, an exclusive, proprietary material with inherent anti-static properties. SPPS processes often involve aggressive solvent vapors that increase the risk of static discharge. ArmorFlex® film is specifically designed to mitigate this risk, supporting safer and more reliable manufacturing operations.Learn more about our end-to-end GLP-1 manufacturing containment approach in our main GLP-1 Therapeutic Workflow page.
